Meet LTMS Scholarship Winner - Ekaterina Antonova!

Ekaterina AntonovaEach year, the Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship (LTMS) offers scholarships to young professionals while they complete degrees in accredited colleges or universities.  Available to students in meetings management or hospitality programs, the LTMS is dedicated to education, a critical element to the success of those pursuing a career in the Destination Management Company (DMC) Industry.

Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) administers the LTMS program in honor of Linda Thompson, a vital part of the DMC profession and event industry. Linda dedicated herself to mentoring young professionals and raising the level of excellence in the DMC industry.

The 2019 LTMS Non-North American Winner is Ekaterina Antonova, who is currently studying Tourism at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance in Saint Petersburg, Russia.  Hannah took a chance when she applied for the LTMS while interning for Tsar Events DMC…a chance that paid off!

When she found out she won, Ekaterina said “I was so pleasantly surprised and proud of myself. I think I might have scared my younger cousin, Eva, who happened to be sitting with me at that exact moment. I literally was jumping because of happiness and extreme joy!  Everybody in my university, and my family, were so happy for me. Of course - I was happier. Taking this chance, I proved to myself that hard work pays off in the end. I felt so inspired by that. It was one of the happiest moments of my life!”

Ms Antonova had so much fun while attending the ADMEI conference in Houston, Texas. She went on to say that ADMEI members were “glowing with happiness and confidence!” The atmosphere of positivity and determination of the ADMEI attendees made a huge impact on her own personality. “I will always cherish this memory and will definitely participate in ADMEI more than just this once!”

Her Uncle, Alexander Rodionov, gave her an incredible opportunity in the DMC world, as he is the Director of Tsar Events DMC. She interns for Tsar during her summer breaks, where she has worked on exciting programs, including the Saint Petersburg Model UN conference.  She was no longer attending conferences for young people, she was operating them!

Ekaterina looks forward to continuing her education, and expanded her role with Tsar Events DMC, where she hopes to gain a Project Manager position after graduating.  Earning her DMCP and CMP certifications are also professional goals of hers, as well as growing her “Russia Survival Guide” YouTube page!
